Your mind is a garden

It’s lovely to know that the outside world can’t interfere with the inside of your head.
- Frank McCourt

THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE… WHY?
Let’s pretend our mind is a garden.
Visualize it as a wide, bright green lawn. While we are enjoying the sight of it, one of our friends comes by and tells us that he has forgotten to put the trash away and asks if it is possible for him to leave it in our garden.
“Maybe you can handle it? I would be grateful”
Now imagine that this scene repeats itself with several people, every day. In the end, no matter how hard we try, our garden would not be as green and flowery anymore, but dirty and stinky. Maybe, at this point, we would start neglecting it too…
The same applies to our mind. If we taint it with negative thoughts, and let others (be it friends, acquaintances or TV) steal our energy by continuously complaining about problems or, indeed, if we let them deposit their -figurative- garbage on us with negative conversations, we could not possibly focus and get what we have always wanted. We would remain stuck. We would watch others spread their wings and flourish, building day after day their beautiful life, while we let negative people bum us out, leavings us deprived of energies and money.
Yes, you have read it right: even money! If our head is full of “garbage”, we will never get our projects on wheel. With a tainted mind, we only speak with others’ expressions, philosophies, currents of thought and paradigms, with no way out.
How do we get out of this vicious circle? We can break free by aiming high instead of lying flat. Let’s stand proudly on our feet, fierce and with our heads up, joyful and energetic. A good starting point are the mantras or, as I prefer to call them, “the food for thought”. If you were to look into a mirror what would you think of yourselves in this exact moment?
“I am ugly.”? I am fat.”? Or would you look at yourselves with enthusiasm, pride and dignity?
Everything starts from you.
Let’s start like this: take a notebook and write down these motivational mantras. Repeat them every day as soon as you wake up (or before sleep), either out loud or in your mind:
• I (add your name and surname here) LOVE MYSELF AND I APPRECIATE MYSELF COMPLETELY
• I AM HAPPY BECAUSE I AM ALIVE AND I CAN CREATE A HAPPY REALITY FOR MYSELF.
• TODAY IS A NEW DAY TO DO NEW THINGS AND DISCOVER THOSE SURPRISES AWAITING FOR ME.
• ANYTHING I CAN IMAGINE IS POSSIBLE AND I AM READY TO LOOK AT THE BRIGHT SIDE OF THINGS.
• I CAN SEE THE GOOD IN ME AND IN OTHERS.
• I CAN DO ANYTHING; I HAVE THE ABILITY AND THE WILL TO DO SO.
• I CAN REACH EVERY OBJECTIVE EASILY
• I CAN CREATE MY FORTUNE EVERY DAY
• I AM FOCUSED ON MY GOALS AND DREAMS
By repeating these sentences every morning you will begin to reprogram your person; better yet, if you repeat them more than once in different moments of your day. Live it as a game that you can customize.
